Campaigns and Programs Serenity Lane's BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE Campaign The Window of Opportunity: that brief time when patients are in crisis and are willing to ask for help, before denial becomes re-entrenched and they continue using. Today, demand for inpatient services at Serenity Lane's treatment center in Eugene far exceeds its residential capacity. Because of this lack of space, patients are sometimes referred out of state, or their admission is delayed, increasing the likelihood that their window of opportunity will close. Serenity Lane's hospital and in-patient unit are landlocked and cannot be expanded. Our Eugene facility was purchased and remodeled with the help of community members who saw the need for accessible treatment for those with chemical dependencies. Over the years, the area around us has become more densely populated. Serenity Lane's solution is to build a modern facility in the town of Coburg that will more than double our current capacity. The new site will allow Serenity Lane to provide for the treatment needs of Oregonians in a dignified and healing atmosphere for years to come. We have purchased 15 acres 8 minutes north of Eugene and have developed a detailed plan for a new campus. In addition to having more beds, the new facility will provide rooms for patients to meet with their families, as well as other amenities important to successful treatment. It will put the "serenity" back into Serenity Lane. Serenity Lane is Oregon's only licensed specialty hospital for chemical dependency. In the early years, we primarily served Lane County but now have 10 outpatient clinics throughout Oregon and southwest Washington, expanding our services to the entire Pacific Northwest and beyond. The total investment for this project is $26.2 million. Serenity Lane has committed $10 million, leaving a balance of $16.2 million to be raised through a capital campaign. This is our window of opportunity, our "Bridge to the Future." Oregon ranks #4 in alcohol-related deaths nationwide. More than 250,000 Oregonians suffer from substance abuse, yet there are only 377 residential beds available in the state of Oregon, including Serenity Lane's 65 beds. Our new facility will enable us to serve many who need treatment for decades to come. |
